Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Process for Textile Industry
The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) process for the Textile Industry is a multi-stage treatment system designed to effectively remove contaminants from wastewater generated during textile manufacturing operations.
1.Screening and Pre-Treatment:
Raw wastewater from textile production processes is first subjected to screening to remove large solids and debris. Pre-treatment follows, where physical processes such as sedimentation and equalization are employed to remove suspended solids and adjust pH levels.
2.Primary Treatment:
In the primary treatment phase, the wastewater undergoes further separation to remove settleable and floatable solids. Sedimentation tanks facilitate the settling of suspended solids, while floatation units remove oils and greases.
3.Secondary Treatment:
Following primary treatment, the wastewater enters the secondary treatment stage, where biological processes take place. Aerobic or anaerobic reactors are utilized to promote the growth of microorganisms that break down organic pollutants, reducing biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD).
4.Tertiary Treatment:
In the tertiary treatment phase, advanced treatment technologies are employed to further polish the effluent. Processes such as filtration, membrane separation, and chemical coagulation are used to remove remaining contaminants, including fine solids, dissolved organics, and colorants.
5.Disinfection and Final Effluent Discharge:
Before final discharge, the treated effluent undergoes disinfection to eliminate harmful pathogens. Chlorination, UV irradiation, or ozonation are commonly used methods to ensure the microbial safety of the effluent. Once treated and disinfected, the effluent is ready for safe discharge into receiving water bodies or reuse applications.
